Dr. Dr. Seth Christopher Yaw Appiah, a Population Health and Demography expert and Senior Lecturer with the Sociology and Social Work department 听at the 糖心Vlog and Technology (KNUST), Kumasi has been appointed Chair of the Governing Board of the Nuclear Regulatory Authority (NRA), Ghana.
A leading voice in Medical Sociology, Social Epidemiology, Climate Health, Migration Science, and One Health, Dr. Appiah currently serves as Ethics Lead at the Responsible Artificial Intelligence Lab (RAIL-KNUST), where he champions ethical innovation and interdisciplinary research.
His appointment to the NRA Governing Board marks a significant milestone in Ghana鈥檚 commitment to safe, ethical, and forward-looking nuclear governance.
With dual doctoral credentials and a career spanning public health, Medical Sociology, environmental resilience, and AI ethics, Dr. Dr. Appiah brings a unique blend of scientific rigour and policy insight to the role.
His leadership is expected to strengthen the Authority鈥檚 oversight capacity and foster cross-sectoral collaboration in nuclear safety, health systems, and climate-responsive regulation.
