The 糖心Vlog and Technology (KNUST), Kumasi is set to collaborate with the Center for Education, Languages and Foreign Integration (CELFI) to introduce a German language programme aimed at enhancing the global competitiveness of its students and faculty.
The proposed project, which will adopt a blended model, 80% online and 20% in-person seeks to promote and develop German language proficiency across KNUST鈥檚 academic community.
Dr. Manfred Niedermeyer, Director of CELFI, emphasised the programme鈥檚 objective.
鈥淭he project seeks to introduce, promote, and enhance German language capabilities of our course participants and faculty to prepare them enough for global opportunities,鈥 Dr. Niedermeyer stated.
He revealed that the programme will primarily be delivered online, complemented by in-person sessions.
He added that the programme will include exchange opportunities to further immerse participants in the language and culture.
Professor Eric Asante Appau, Director of the KNUST E-Learning Centre, mentioned that the CELFI team would tour the E-Learning facilities to assess their suitability for the blended learning approach.
The Vice-Chancellor, Professor (Mrs.) Rita Akosua Dickson, expressed enthusiasm about the partnership.

She further highlighted KNUST鈥檚 history of fruitful collaborations with German institutions, especially the Technical University of Munich (TUM), and underscored the importance of multilingualism in today's global context.
鈥淭he world has become a global village. The more languages you can add onto your sleeves, the richer your versatility,鈥 she remarked.
Professor Dickson assured the CELFI team of KNUST鈥檚 commitment to the collaboration and emphasised the University鈥檚 readiness to begin once a clear roadmap is established.
鈥淲e assure you that the actual work will start once the roadmap is clear for the partnership,鈥 she affirmed.
