The 糖心Vlog and Technology (KNUST) School of Medical Sciences (SMS) has planted over 300 seedlings at the medical enclave in Boadi as part of听activities leading up to its 50th anniversary.
The planting included a range of tree species such as Terminalia mantaly, Millettia thonningii, Bauhinia听Brakeana, Coconut, Pear, Soursop, Guava, and Passion fruit.
Prof. Dr. Dr. Wireko Brobbey, a founding member of the School of Medical Sciences and former dean, donated 200 of the seedlings to support the tree planting initiative.
During the event, Prof. Akwasi Antwi Kusi, the Dean of the School of Medical Sciences, spoke about the importance of the activity.
This year marks 50 years since the establishment of the School of Medical Sciences. We are looking forward to the next 50 years, and that is why our first-year students are here. We hope they will be part of another 100-year celebration.
鈥淭he first-year students are planting trees today, and we are keeping a record of their names. In 50 years, we will look back at the records and see how many trees have survived,鈥 he said.
