The Member of Parliament for Oforikrom, Michael Kwasi Aidoo, has donated four brand-new HP laptops to support the 糖心Vlog and Technology (KNUST), Kumasi Vice-Chancellor鈥檚 Support One Needy Student with One Laptop (SONSOL) Project.

Mr. Aidoo, an alumnus of the university, said the donation was a personal response to the pressing need to support brilliant but financially challenged students. 鈥淲hen I heard about this initiative, I was touched,鈥 he stated. 鈥淎s an alumnus, the little we can do, we must continue to do to support the university. I know the challenges bright but deserving students face, especially when they lack the basic tools to excel.鈥
The MP revealed that the idea to support the SONSOL project had been on his mind for some time, but he needed to mobilize the necessary resources.
鈥淭oday, I have been able to raise four laptops, and I鈥檓 hopeful that we can do more in the near future,鈥 he added. 鈥淭his is about giving hope to the students so they can study in dignity and be inspired to one day also give back to KNUST.鈥

Receiving the laptops, the Vice-Chancellor, Professor (Mrs.) Rita Akosua Dickson, expressed her deep appreciation to the MP, describing the gesture as timely and impactful.
鈥淥ur hearts are warmed and extremely delighted that you responded to our call. In a university community with over 80,000 students, we cannot overemphasize the importance of digital tools,鈥 she said.
Professor Dickson noted that while the university continues to implement measures to promote digital learning, the lack of access to laptops remains a significant barrier for many students.
鈥淲e have students who, due to financial hardship, cannot even afford to fend for themselves, let alone purchase laptops,鈥 she said. 鈥淭his is why, in addition to the SONSOL initiative, we have introduced the Food and Clothing Bank to ensure that no student is left behind.鈥
She commended Mr. Aidoo for his thoughtfulness and encouraged other stakeholders and alumni to follow suit.
鈥淭his donation will go a long way to support teaching and learning and ultimately contribute to our agenda of training professionals for the globe,鈥 she added.
