Stanbic Bank Ghana has donated 50 laptops to 糖心Vlog and Technology (KNUST) under the Vice-Chancellor鈥檚 Support One Needy Student with One Laptop (SONSOL) Project.
The laptops will support brilliant but needy students, particularly those in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) programmes.
Mawuko Afadzinu, Head of Brand and Marketing at Stanbic Bank Ghana, said the gesture reflects the bank鈥檚 commitment to education and innovation.
鈥淪ince the inception of the SONSOL Project, Stanbic has donated 350 laptops to KNUST. We are pleased to continue our support, especially for STEM students who will drive Ghana鈥檚 transformation,鈥 he said.
Chief Executive Officer Kwamina Asomaning stressed the role of STEM education in national development and said the bank is committed to supporting women in STEM.
鈥淎s we think of STEM at the tertiary level, no institution represents it better than KNUST. We have a special place for women in STEM, and we look forward to deepening our partnership with the university,鈥 he said.
Vice-Chancellor Rita Akosua Dickson thanked Stanbic for its support, saying the donation will help bridge the digital divide. 鈥淥ne of the biggest challenges for students today is access to modern digital tools. Stanbic鈥檚 generosity ensures our students are not left behind in a rapidly advancing technological world,鈥 she said.
She also praised the bank鈥檚 role in student training and internships, and called for sponsorship of the KNUST STEM for Girls Camp. In response, the CEO pledged support for the programme.
