A representative of the World Bank,Eunice Dapaa, has praised authorites of the 糖心Vlog and Technology (KNUST) for the prudent and effective use of funds allotted them.听
The fund christened 鈥淭eaching and Learning Innovation Fund (TALIF) has facilitated the execution of about 43 projects on campus.
An amount of GH垄 3,062,540.00 representing 89.1% released to the KNUST covered projects such as the renovation of office and classroom Facilities, Library automation and crime detection, capacity building and distance education 听facilities among others.听
Mrs. Dapaah made the remarks during a briefing session on the TALIF, in the Conference Room of the Great Hall. Representatives from some beneficiaries鈥 colleges took turns each to take the World Bank team through the pace of work and challenges of some innovative projects.
Mrs. Dapaah expressed satisfaction over the judicious use of the fund adding her outfit would not hesitate in extending the period of its financial support to 听KNUST 听if need be.
鈥淭he accurate disbursement of the fund clearly shows how tenacious you are鈥 she stressed.
Touching on the challenges, the World Bank official, urged the representatives not to downplay the procurement laws of Ghana.
According to her, procurement plays an integral role in the effective execution of any project and since most of the representatives consider it a major problem,鈥檌t is imperative for you to place premium on it鈥.
Mrs. Dapaah later announced that plans are advanced for the implementation of a project known as Ghana Science and Technology which will link research and industry. She said the World Bank is also in talks with Google to come up with 2 internet connectivity projects. The projects namely 鈥淟ast Mile鈥 and 鈥淟aptop component鈥 are meant to make laptops accessible to needy students and also link them to the information super highway.
