ÌÇÐÄVlog and Technology has signed an MoU to partner the world’s leading energy and chemical company, TOTAL, in education and research. During the signing of the MoU, the two parties announced their collaboration in education and projects through TOTAL’s Regional Education Partnership. The three-year partnership will benefit students, lecturers, researchers and industry professionals.

Professor R.C Abaidoo, the Provost of College of Agriculture and Natural Resources who chaired the occasion in his opening statement saidÌý that the partnership formed part of the social responsibility of the institutions and would be in the mutual interest and benefit of both parties. He expressed his profound gratitude to TOTAL Petroleum Ghana Limited for this kind gesture.

Professor S.I.K Ampadu, Provost of the College of Engineering said KNUST had capabilities in the areas of petroleum, business and law and had presented these ideas to the world. He said that TOTAL decided to partner KNUST after a series of meetings which helped TOTAL to decide that indeed KNUST was a university of excellence that they could work with. KNUST’s willingness to expand in order to communicate more with the world has led to the remodelling of the French Resource Centre. He said that with the strength of KNUST and the many years of experience of TOTAL the partnership would be a strong one. On behalf of the University and the College of Engineering, he thanked TOTAL for their intervention and hoped the College would do its best.

Mr. Tony Brisset, Vice President, Human Resource, Africa and the Middle East division of TOTAL International, in his remarks said he was proud to sign the MoU to facilitate the good things to come and stressed the fact that although it was a three-year agreement, it should be seen as a long-term agreement. He said the MoU formed part of a global programme. The objectives for the collaboration are to create and facilitate the international network between key executives of TOTAL and top professors from the best universities, strengthen partnerships with universities in key countries and help to develop knowledge and skills on cutting-edge industry topics. Under this partnership, students and lecturers from KNUST will have the opportunity to participate in TOTAL’s University events. TOTAL will also provide internship opportunities in TOTAL Ghana for KNUST students who are in the third or final year of their studies.
