The 糖心Vlog and Technology (KNUST), Kumasi, has officially signed a Deed of Conveyance with the Chief of Mamfe and Kyidomhene of the Akuapem Traditional Area, Osaberima Ansah Sasraku III, and the KNUST Alumni Association for the establishment of an arboretum at Mamfe in the Eastern Region of Ghana. The event took place on January 31, 2025, at the university鈥檚 Council Chamber.
The 7-acre arboretum, called KNUST Anniversary Gardens, was donated听by Osaberima Ansah Sasraku III. It will feature picnic lawns, hiking trails, scenic rest stations, and reception centers.
The signing of the Deed of Conveyance formalizes the documentation of the gift from Osaberima Ansah Sasraku III.
The alumni took the occasion to formally introduce the newly elected global executive team of the Alumni Association, share their plans, and engage with the university鈥檚 leadership to align on the future direction and development of their partnership.
In line with its vision to become a world-class alumni association, Dr. Herman Yobo Addae, Global President of the KNUST Alumni Association, also shared their strategic plan. The plan is well-organized to support itself and make a meaningful impact on their alma mater.
鈥淲e want to renew our commitment to truly execute together with the university. The strategy is the acronym MUFI (Membership, University Relations, Funding, Image). Our aim is to project the product of the university,鈥 he said.
Professor Rita Akosua Dickson, Vice-Chancellor of KNUST, expressed gratitude to Osaberima Ansah Sasraku III for his generous donation and congratulated the newly elected leadership on behalf of the university.
Prof. Dickson expressed her appreciation for their dedication and commitment to advancing the alumni network, with a shared vision of achieving the global standard the university has always aimed for.
鈥淚鈥檓 pleased that you have given yourselves to help bring our alumni to the global standard we鈥檝e always wanted,鈥 she said.
Professor Dickson also reassured the alumni leadership of the university鈥檚 full support.
鈥淟et me assure you, as leadership, we are very keen, ready, and prepared in any way possible to support the work of the alumni. I can stand by this word anytime,鈥 she said.
She emphasized that the university鈥檚 story is fundamentally tied to the success of its graduates.
"If we have any story to tell as a university, then it is the story of the people who go out of the university. Our charge goes beyond Ghana, beyond the sub-region, and beyond the continent of Africa. We are training global professionals, and it is our international responsibility."
